Select Your Scovilles and Shop By Pepper
Hot Sauce can be made from any type of hot pepper, with some providing just a hint of heat and others infusing death-lava levels of capsaicin carnage. We don’t just stop at hot sauce, though. Oh no, friend - here at Pepper Palace we love peppers so much that we put them in our BBQ Sauces, Wing Sauces, Marinades, and even Jerkies. We celebrate their fragrant flavors in everything we make, from our Pure Pepper Powders to Pepper Jellies. Shop by your pepper of choice or try something new to discover your new favorite fixin’s.
What is the Hot Pepper Scale?
Also known as the “Scoville Scale”, the pepper heat scale measures the concentration of capsaicin, or “burn-your-tongue-and-blister-your-butt” factor. Hot sauces, hot peppers, hot tamales... anything spicy can be assigned a Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) value from 0 - 16,000,000.
Here’s a breakdown of the average SHU for each of our favorite peppers:
Jalapeno: 2,500 - 8,000
Chipotle: 5,000 - 8,000
Cayenne: 30,000 - 50,000
Serrano: 10,000 - 23,000
Scotch Bonnet: 100,000 - 350,000
Habanero: 100,000 - 350,000
Ghost: 855,000 - 1,041,427
7 Pot Chocolate Douglah: 1,000,000 - 1,500,000
Scorpion: 1,200,000 - 2,000,000
Carolina Reaper: 1,400,000 - 2,200,000
What is the Hottest Pepper on Earth?
The hottest pepper on earth is called the Carolina Reaper, coming in 2.2 million+ SHU. For reference, that’s about 400 times hotter than your taco’s old amigo, the Jalapeno.
